Reporters Without Borders released their annual World Press Freedom Index this week. The U.S. dropped from 20th to 47th in the rankings (out of 179 countries listed).  The main reason for this drop was the “heavy-handed” treatment of the Occupy Movement by authorities.  I don’t post these images as an exercise in “finger-pointing” at the men and women who police our country.  Maybe I’m just posting these because I happen to have a few shots taken at Zuccotti Park from last November.  I am sure of one thing though.  In the 40+ years I’ve been around there has been a significant decrease in the individual freedoms we hold as citizens of the United States.  I certainly don’t lay that on the police.  I’d say we all share the blame on that one.

Downtown Greenville, MS - A town falling down around its own ears and pinning its hopes and dreams on casino gambling.  This place and others similar to it possess more scenes of decay and desolation than many parts of the developing world. And still one of the most amazingly beautiful regions in our country.
